Mitsubishi Triton Reports Positive Market Share of 28% For Financial Year to Date 2020

Kuala Lumpur, 9 June 2020 – Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, announced that for financial year to date 2020, the Mitsubishi Triton’s market share is at 28%. MMM’s Financial Year 2020 calendar is from April 2020 to March 2021.

The pick-up truck segment saw a 45% downsize in May 2020 because of the challenging economic situation. In spite of this, the Mitsubishi Triton was the only brand that successfully achieved positive growth by 1.0% with 483 units sold for May 2020 as compared to the same period last financial year.
From January to May 2020, the Mitsubishi Triton consistently maintained its market share by 22% or more for five consecutive months, an increased from the same corresponding period of 2019 which was at 17.8%.

“While the automotive industry is still recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic, we are happy that the Mitsubishi Triton retained its popularity with with a strong market share of 28% for financial year to date 2020. We are glad that the Triton comes in as a reliable and helpful utility truck to assist our customers to get through these tough times,” said Tomoyuki Shinnishi, Chief Executive Officer of MMM.

He added, “MMM have taken serious precautionary measures to ensure that our products, services and facilities are safe for all. During the conditional Movement Control Order (MCO) phase, MMM have introduced a contactless product demonstration via video call, as well as Test Drive 2U online service. We want to ensure that the company is still able to provide a worry-free experience for customers who wish to learn more or test-drive a Mitsubishi model from home.”

“We thank our business partners and customers for playing their part to curb the spread of COVID-19 by adhering to the SOPs that have been set for all MMM showrooms. During the recovery phase of the MCO, MMM and its authorized dealers will still continue to follow all SOPs and guidelines strictly,” Shinnishi concluded.

Kuala Lumpur, 18 May 2020 – Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, announces all authorized MMM showrooms and service centres now resume operations and launches its first-ever TEST DRIVE 2U online service, allowing customers looking to test drive a Mitsubishi car to do so from the comfort of their homes.

To register for interest in MMM’s TEST DRIVE 2U online service, customers will need to visit https://www.mitsubishi-motors.com.my/testdrive2u/ and follow these simple steps:

Step 1: Browse through Mitsubishi variants and select the Test Drive 2U button.

Step 2: Enter the preferred test-drive location.

Step 3: Select the nearest dealer available as well as the preferred Mitsubishi test-drive models

Step 4: Fill up a quick form to indicate personal details and choose a test-drive date and time.

Step 5: Select the mode of communication with Mitsubishi’s sales consultants via What’s App, Phone Call or allow an authorized sales consultant to contact the customer instead.

Customers who book a Mitsubishi test-drive via Test Drive 2U online service may rest assured with these protocols:

  • Vehicle and car key will be thoroughly sanitized before and after the test drive.
  • Sales consultant will use hand sanitizer and face mask, while customers are strongly encouraged to do the same.
  • Test drive is limited to one customer at a time.
  • Sales consultant will be seated at the rear seat

Mitsubishi Motors Showrooms and Service Centres to be Operational from 4 May 2020

Kuala Lumpur, 6 May 2020 – Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, will be operating majority of its showrooms and service centres from 4 May 2020. Customers are advised to call in advance to check on the operating days and hours of the showrooms and service centres, as well as to secure a prior appointment.

In view of this, MMM and its authorized dealers are fully committed to actively provide customers with the best safety measures correlated to the COVID-19 pandemic. Several precaution guidelines will be implemented to keep Mitsubishi outlets a safe place for all customers and staffs.

In MMM’s nationwide showroom, stringent hygiene practices of the following will be taken place:

  • Temperature check for all before entry.
  • Hand sanitizers will be offered at the entrance of the showroom.
  • All staff and customers are strongly recommended to wear a face mask in the showroom premises.
  • Social distancing will be observed.
  • Frequent sanitization of showroom facilities.
  • Frequent sanitization of display and test-drive vehicles.

For Mitsubishi owners who visit the service centres to service their vehicles, the following will also be observed:

  • By appointment basis only, no walk-ins are allowed.
  • Customers are encouraged to leave vehicles at the service centre and return for collection when the car is ready.
  • Vehicle seat and steering are covered during service. The covers will then be disposed after the service, and before handing the vehicle back to its owner.
  • Vehicles will be sanitized thoroughly before handing over to the customer.

Mitsubishi Triton Recorded a Positive Growth of 0.9% for Financial Year 2019

Kuala Lumpur, 30 April 2020 – Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia announced that the Mitsubishi Triton was the only brand in the pick-up segment that successfully achieved positive growth by 0.9%, with 5,762 units sold for Financial Year 2019 (April 2019 to March 2020), as compared to the same period last financial year. The pick-up truck segment however, saw a decline by 21% during the same period of time.

From January to March 2020, the Mitsubishi Triton consistently maintained its market share by 22% or more for three consecutive months. The Mitsubishi Triton overall market share for FY2019 closed at 17% versus MMM target of 16%.

On another positive note, for the whole of FY2019, the Mitsubishi Triton double cab ranked up to the number one position in the pick-up truck segment, in three states namely Melaka, Penang and Kedah.

“We are happy that the Mitsubishi Triton’s appeal in Malaysia remains strong. Throughout the year, the Triton has been recognised as the best-handling, the more fuel-efficient pick-up truck as well as the cheapest to maintain in terms of after sales service. Mitsubishi Motors Resume Operations at Selected Service Centres Nationwide

Kuala Lumpur, 29 April 2020 – Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, announced that it will resume operations at selected service centres nationwide from today.

This comes in effect after selected MMM authorized service centres received approval from the Ministry of Internal Trade and Industry (MITI) to operate during the Phase Four (4) of the Movement Control Order (MCO). Customers may contact their nearest MMM authorized service centres if they need car servicing and maintenance.

In an effort to ensure that the service centre remains safe for customers and staffs, the following safety measures will be strictly observed:

  • Appointment basis only, no walk-in customers are allowed
  • Contactless car acceptance
  • Pick-up and drop-off only, customers are not allowed to wait at the service premises
  • Temperature checks and the used of masks for all customers and staffs
  • Hand sanitizers will be available at the entrance of the service centres
  • Vehicles will be sanitized before handover to customers.

Mitsubishi Motors Supports Youth Empowerment And Donates Laptops to Welfare Home and Arthritis Foundation

Kuala Lumpur, 15 March 2020 –MITSUBISHI MOTORS MALAYSIA (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, made a cash donation of RM35,000 to First International Soccer Academy Malaysia (FISA) and donated laptops to Pertubuhan Kebajikan Yesuwin Mahligai Selangor (PKYMS) and the Arthritis Foundation Malaysia (AFM) recently.

The company aims to support FISA’s efforts towards the betterment of children particularly coming from the B40 family and to stop teens’ involvement in social issues.

“We recognized FISA’s efforts in working towards the betterment of young children and to put a stop towards their involvement in social issues. In line with boosting the country’s economic growth for the underprivileged family, we hope that our contribution for the academy may continue to assist them to develop these children’s competencies and to provide them with the opportunities to excel and lead a better life,” said Tomoyuki Shinnishi, Chief Executive Officer of MMM.

In addition, MMM have also donated laptops to PKYMS and Arthritis Foundation Malaysia (AFM) to assist students who were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic as well as to support AFM administration purposes.

“We understand that many students at the welfare homes were at a limitation or left without the technology they require to continue their education. We hope that the contribution of these laptops will support the children for home based learning throughout the pandemic,” Shinnishi added.

Customers who wish to test drive a Mitsubishi vehicle, may request for the same peace-of-mind test drive experience via the online showroom as well. Customers may follow a few simple steps in the online showroom page for an authorized dealer to bring the selected Mitsubishi car to the preferred location.

Booking Assist

For customers who wish to book a Mitsubishi car but is apprehensive to go to the showrooms, they may opt to continue their purchase journey online by submitting a booking request form on the online showroom’s website. Thereafter, MMM authorized dealers will contact the customer to assist them further on their bookings from loan to insurance application.

Trade-in Assist

MMM collaborates with MyTukar, a leading online used car market place in Malaysia to offer special trade in promotion for Mitsubishi customers who trade in their car via the Mitsubishi online showroom.

Customer who are interested to trade-in their vehicles, may submit a trade-in assist form online. There, customers will have the option to request for the car inspection, handover, transfer of ownership and the collection of the sold car to be done at any of the customer’s preferred location to the customer’s convenience.

Mitsubishi Triton Sales Up 2.4% in 2019

Kuala Lumpur, 23 January 2020> – Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia, announced a 2.4% year-on-year increase in the Mitsubishi Triton pick-up truck from January-December 2019 with 5,792 units sold, comparing to the same period in 2018.

The pick-up truck segment experienced a 21% downsize in 2019 because of a challenging economic situation. In spite of this, the Triton was the only brand that successfully achieved positive growth and expanded its overall sales.

The Mitsubishi Triton is the number one sales growth pick-up truck in Malaysia, improving its market share by 3.8% to 16.5% from January-December 2019. After the introduction of the new Triton in early 2019, it has contributed to 71.2% of MMM’s overall business.

“MMM will continue to provide the best-handling pick-up truck from our flagship model, the Triton Adventure X to the Triton Quest 4×2 in order to meet our customers daily work and leisure requirements. We are confident of achieving our Triton sales target and that MMM will provide top-notch customer service to all its customers.”, said Tomoyuki Shinnishi, Chief Executive Officer of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia

He added, “Our achievement this year includes ranking number one in J.D. Power 2019 Malaysia Customer Service Index (CSI) Mass Market Study. This is the second consecutive year for MMM to be ranked at number one and remained in the top three positions for five consecutive years. In terms of Sales, MMM is ranked top two in the 2019 J.D. Power Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) Study. These results were a reflection of car owners satisfaction and experience at the authorized service centres.”

In January 2019, the company launched the new Triton that incorporates the latest iteration of the “Dynamic Shield” design concept, improved quality, advanced safety features and continued the DNA of the best handling pick-up truck.

In 2019, the Mitsubishi Triton is the only brand in the pick-up segment that achieved positive growth of 2.4% comparing to 2018.

Mitsubishi owners and Pick-up owners who purchase selected Triton variants will be entitled to RM 3,000 cash rebates and RM 2,000 cash rebates respectively, on top of on-going promotions.

The Triton Adventure X now gets an All Round Monitor, Driving Video Recorder (DVR), side body stickers and premium solar and security tint for a greater cabin comfort.

Outlander

Customers who book and register a new Mitsubishi Outlander 2.0-litre or 2.4-litre will enjoy cash rebates up to RM 4,000 plus 2-Year Free Maintenance and RM 2,000 plus 2-Year Free Maintenance respectively. The Outlander 2.0-litre is priced at RM 137, 888 while the Outlander 2.4-litre is priced at RM 152, 888.

Safety is the Outlander’s strongest suit, befitting its role as a 7-Seater family vehicle. The Outlander comes with 4WD, seven SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, Active Stability & Traction Control (ASTC), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and ISOFIX child seat mounts as standard.

The Mitsubishi ASX Compact SUV 4WD and 2WD come with cash rebates up to RM 12,000 and RM 8,000 respectively. The ASX 4WD is priced at RM 133,336 while the ASX 2WD is priced at RM 118,866.

The Outlander and ASX come with five years warranty/unlimited mileage.

New Mitsubishi Triton Knight Introduced

Kuala Lumpur, 10 December 2019 – Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia, introduced the new Mitsubishi Triton Knight today. Limited to 120 units, the Triton Knight is based on the top-spec Triton Adventure X variant.

The Triton Knight is made available only in White Diamond and packs on extra accessories to match its stylish yet warrior presence.

Aesthetic wise, the Triton Knight is accentuated by a grey coated front bumper garnish and hood protector for a more aggressive stance. The tougher outlook is further complimented by exclusive Knight body stickers and side window deflectors.

Moving into the cabin, the Triton Knight comes with scuff plates and exclusive Red-stitching carpet mats with Knight embroidery.

Similar to the Triton Adventure X variant, the Triton Knight gets an All Round Monitor (ARM), a feature that uses multiple cameras around the vehicle to create a birds-eye-view to aid parking and maneuvering.

For an added peace-of-mind driving, the Triton Knight gets Driving Video Recorder (DVR), a feature that captures every moment or incident while on the move.

Last but not least, it also comes with 7-Inch Touchscreen Audio with Apple Carplay and Android Ready and sports bar as standard.

Priced at RM 137,900, the Triton Knight is priced the same as the current Triton Adventure X, but adds free accessories for a limited time only. Some of these accessories are offered by Mitsubishi Motors authorized dealers. It also comes with the best-in-class warranty of 5 Years or 200,000KM.

MMM current year-end promotions include loyalty program exclusively for Mitsubishi Motors owners. Customers who purchase selected Triton variants will be entitled to up to RM 3,000 cash rebates on top of on-going promotions.

More about the Triton

The Triton is powered by 2.4-litre MIVEC turbodiesel engine, which produces 181 PS max power and 430 Nm max torque with Variable Valve Timing technology. The new Triton also comes with 6-speed AT transmission that provides seamless and more powerful acceleration resulting in greater response and performance.

For control, the Triton is fitted with Super Select 4WD II for optimum traction and handling characteristics in any given terrain. The addition of Off-road Mode settings controls engine power, transmission and braking to regulate the amount of wheel slip and maximize all-terrain performance. The Triton is also equipped with Hill Descent Control where the vehicle speed is electronically controlled while it is in a descent mode.

This Triton is further reinforced with class-leading advanced safety features, such as Forward Collision Mitigation (FCM), Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Assist (BSW with LCA), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS), Auto High Beam (AHB) and 7 SRS airbags (varies across variants).
