Mitsubishi Motors Contributes Triton 4×4 Pick-Up Truck To INSAF Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur, 27 May 2021 – MITSUBISHI MOTORS MALAYSIA (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, contributed a Triton 4×4 pick-up truck to INSAF Malaysia, a non-profit organization (NGO) carrying out humanitarian efforts.

Mitsubishi Triton to assist INSAF Malaysia’s humanitarian efforts

The Triton will be used to run several programs under INSAF Malaysia’s belt especially to help transport abundance of food items for those that have been victims of poverty and natural disasters.

Some of the NGO’s program include distribution of food bank, lunch box and rice bags to orphanages and welfare homes respectively, as well as ‘Meals on Wheels’ where food are distributed to old folks who have been abandoned or lives alone. The NGO also builds shelter homes for those that have been hit by natural disasters and is in dire need for a roof above their heads.

“Our CSR vision for this year is ‘Inspiring Lives Today for a Greater Future’. While our missions are to implement CSR activities that provides aid to support underprivileged children, and to collaborate with NGOs in promoting a sustainable economy, society and environment. So when we found out that INSAF Malaysia’s humanitarian efforts is constantly striving for voluntarily action, we want to support their work by contributing a Triton pick-up truck in hopes that the NGO can go beyond the distance and to help more underprivileged families,” said Tomoyuki Shinnishi, Chief Executive Officer of MMM.

Hunger is on the rise in Malaysia as we’ve seen lot of breadwinners lose their source of income which leads to the inability to put food on the table. We are doing all that we can to make sure children or families don’t go to bed hungry hence we are so glad to have companies like Mitsubishi Motors reach out to us to offer help. The contribution of the Triton pick-up truck is timely, practical and very much appreciated.”

Kuala Lumpur, 7 May 2021 – MITSUBISHI MOTORS MALAYSIA (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, recorded historical high sales performance in April 2021 with 1,872 vehicles sold. The company’s sales in April continued an upward momentum since January and strengthen its hold on top three position in the non-national brand ranking for the fourth consecutive month.

Mitsubishi Motors is the Top 3 Non-National Brand in Malaysia

The new Mitsubishi XPANDER continues to dominate the non-national MPV segment since January, and continues to set strong sales numbers with more than 10,000 bookings since its launch in November 2020. The XPANDER contributed 982 units, 52% of the company’s April sales. Mitsubishi Motors have since delivered 3,800 units to the proud owners in Malaysia.

“We are very pleased that the Mitsubishi XPANDER sales remain healthy and its demand is ahead of the number of units supplied. Despite the challenges we are facing with the recently announced Movement Control Order (MCO) or even with the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) prior to MCO, we are continuing our best efforts to meet with the strong demand for the XPANDER by increasing our production capacity while maintaining a high level of product quality,” said Tomoyuki Shinnishi, Chief Executive Officer of MMM.

The robust Mitsubishi Triton pick-up truck is also maintaining a solid market share close to 20% and remains as a favourite choice within the pick-up segment despite a healthy competition from its newly launched rivals. The company have sold 680 units of Triton in April and have delivered 142 units of new Triton Athlete to happy owners.

“Although there was a decline in many economic sectors and the environmental sentiments starts to take a toll on people caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we are relieved to see our sales remain optimistic and constantly moving towards a positive direction. We are aware that a large number of our customers aim to purchase their cars before the SST exemption expires by end of June. Despite the challenges of supply constraints, Mitsubishi Motors is working our best to meet the expectation of our customers on the delivery preference,” Shinnishi added.

New Mitsubishi Triton Athlete Introduced

Kuala Lumpur, 8 April 2021 – Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia, introduced the new Mitsubishi Triton Athlete today. The Triton Athlete is the flagship model of the Mitsubishi Triton 4×4 pick-up range, replacing the Triton Adventure X.

The Triton Athlete is the embodiment of toughness refined and will be available in three colours- Sun Flare Orange Pearl, White Diamond as well as Jet Black Mica and packs on extra accessories to match its stylish yet rugged presence.

Aesthetic wise, the Triton Athlete is accentuated by a gloss black front under garnish and ‘Dynamic Shield’ front design concept incorporating a glossy black radiator grille and sporty ‘ATHLETE’ graphic design side stripe sticker.

The Triton’s tougher outlook is further complimented by a black theme including side mirrors, door handles, aero type window deflectors, 18-inch gloss black rims and side steps.

Moving into the cabin, the Triton Athlete comes with orange-stitching leather wrapped steering, gear knobs and LED illuminated scuff plates. The Triton Athlete also comes with first-in-class rear air circulator.

The Triton Athlete is powered by a 2.4-litre MIVEC turbodiesel engine, which produces 181 PS max power and 430 Nm max torque with Variable Valve Timing technology.

Mitsubishi Motors Recorded Historical High Sales Performance with 4,156 Vehicles Sold for FY20 Q4 (Jan-Mar 2021)

Kuala Lumpur, 6 April 2021 – MITSUBISHI MOTORS MALAYSIA (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, recorded historical high sales performance of 4,156 vehicles sold for Financial Year 2020 Q4 (January – March 2021), which is a 135% increase in sales as compared to Financial Year 2019 Q4 (January- March 2020). During the same period, Mitsubishi Motors is also the top three non-national brand for three consecutive months.

The company also announced 51% increase in sales with 11,554 vehicles sold for Financial Year 2020 (April 2020 – March 2021), as compared to the same period in Financial Year 2019 (April 2019- March 2020). MMM’s Financial Year 2020 ended on 31 March 2021.

Mitsubishi Motors is the Top 3 Non-National Brand in Malaysia

The sales achievement is attributed by the strong reception of the new Mitsubishi XPANDER, which have received more than 9,300 bookings since its launch in November 2020. The company have since delivered 2,742 units to new owners.

“Due to the overwhelming positive response for the new XPANDER, we are progressing to increase our production volume to cater for higher production capacity to fulfil all booking demands,” said Tomoyuki Shinnishi, Chief Executive Officer of MMM.

The company’s volume seller Mitsubishi Triton, was also exceptionally well received by Malaysians and recorded an incremental sales performance of 32% with 7,568 units sold in FY20 as compared to FY19.

“Despite the challenging market situation, MMM closed FY20 on a high with the main drivers for volume growth- the Triton pick-up truck and the new XPANDER seven-seater crossover. Back by our committed dealers, we have expanded our sales outlets to Temerloh, Kuala Selangor and Petaling Jaya last financial year, and more than 60% of our dealers have upgraded their outlets for a better customer experience. This FY21, we will continue to expand our dealer network in order to serve our customers better in terms of sales and after sales,” said Shinnishi.

He added, “We thank our customers who have supported the Mitsubishi brand and the good sales only reveal brand and customer’s loyalty. In return for this strong support, we prioritize all our customers’ needs by introducing a seamless digitalization sale and after sales experience with the introduction of Test Drive 2U, MITSUBISHI CONNECT mobile application as well as the newly launched Mitsubishi Online Showroom. Mitsubishi Motors Breakthrough Sales Performance Growth of 91% for 2021. 17,489 Vehicles Sold from January to December 2021

Kuala Lumpur, 6 January 2021 – MITSUBISHI MOTORS MALAYSIA (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, sold 17,489 vehicles from January to December 2021 which is a 91% increase in sales as compared to the same period in 2020.

The sales achievement credited to the Mitsubishi XPANDER combining style, practicality, and competitive pricing had its best sales performance year with 7,397 units sold from January to December 2021. This accomplishment has crowned the XPANDER as the number one best-selling Japanese seven-seater crossover in Malaysia.

The Mitsubishi Triton pick-up truck also continued to enjoy its run of success with 9,268 units sold from January to December 2021. This is a 34% increase in sales as compared to the same period in 2020.

“Despite another year of being disrupted by COVID-19, we are thankful for our customers for showing trust, confidence, and loyalty towards the Mitsubishi Motors brand. We are pleased that XPANDER has enjoyed strong sales performance thanks to the extension of the tax-free incentive period. This decision by the Malaysian government has certainly helped the industry to sustain itself during this challenging phase. At Mitsubishi Motors, we have now progressed to increase our production volume for XPANDER, to cater for higher production capacity, and to fulfill all booking demands,” said Shinya Ikeda, Chief Executive Officer of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia.

Kuala Lumpur, 20 November 2020 –MITSUBISHI MOTORS MALAYSIA (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, announced the commencement of new XPANDER delivery for customers who have booked the new XPANDER earlier.

The new XPANDER is now available for viewing and test drive at all Mitsubishi Motors showrooms nationwide.

“Mitsubishi Motors is very excited to deliver the Malaysian made new XPANDER to some early bird customers. The XPANDER has already attracted a strong following here and wherever it is sold in ASEAN. With its combination of style, practicality and competitive pricing, we believe the XPANDER will play an increasingly important role in growing our sales,” said Tomoyuki Shinnishi, Chief Executive Officer of MMM.

He added, “We would like to thank our customers for the tremendous support. Due to the overwhelming response, the total amount of bookings which MMM received has exceeded the total production capacity until December 2020. Kuala Lumpur, 11 November 2020 – MITSUBISHI MOTORS MALAYSIA (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia, introduced a new exterior colour for the Mitsubishi Triton Adventure X- Sun flare Orange Pearl today.

The new colour joins Jet Black Mica and White Diamond in the available colour line-up for the Triton Adventure X.

Aside from the new colour, a new silver stripe design for the Triton Adventure X side profile is also introduced for a more sportier and rugged outlook.

The Triton is still maintaining its number one position in the double-cab pick-up truck segment in three states- Melaka, Penang and Kedah.

Kuala Lumpur, 5 November 2020 – MITSUBISHI MOTORS MALAYSIA (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, announced the following prices for the new Mitsubishi XPANDER.

Prices above are quoted on-the-road without insurance for private registration in Peninsular Malaysia, East Malaysia and duty free zone. These prices are also quoted in view of the Malaysian government’s announcement to drop Sales and Service tax (SST) for cars, which sees a 100% sales tax exemption on locally-assembled (CKD) models.

Since its Open-for-Booking announcement on 22 October 2020, the Mitsubishi XPANDER has garnered over 2,000 bookings to date.

“Mitsubishi Motors would like to thank all its customers for showing overwhelming interest in the new Mitsubishi XPANDER. We will try our utmost effort on production to honour these early bird customers as much as possible,” said Tomoyuki Shinnishi, Chief Executive Officer of MMM.

“The multi-award winning XPANDER has been well received in other ASEAN countries and MMM is pleased to see the same support from Malaysians. We hope to keep this momentum going and we will maximize our production capacity to meet this encouraging response. In return for customer strong support, the team at Mitsubishi Motors are driven to deliver new units as soon as possible to reduce customer’s waiting time,” he added.

The new XPANDER comes in one variant only with four colour to choose from- Titanium Grey, Quartz White, Diamond Black and Red Metallic. The seven-seater crossover comes with 5-Year warranty with unlimited mileage.

Customers will be able to view and test drive the new XPANDER at all Mitsubishi Motors authorized showrooms nationwide from 20 November 2020 onwards.

Over 2,000 bookings received since 22 October 2020.

New XPANDER Product Features

Performance
The XPANDER is powered by a 1.5-litre MIVEC petrol engine using aluminium block that produces 105 PS at 6,000 rpm and 141 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The XPANDER comes with a four-speed automatic transmission optimized for power and fuel economy.

Exterior
The new XPANDER never fails to impress with it’s a striking futuristic design. The XPANDER follows the iteration of the ‘Dynamic Shield’ front design concept, which is incorporated in every newly launched Mitsubishi car. The ‘Dynamic Shield’ expresses high performance and a sense of protection for the passengers and pedestrians.

Aesthetically, the XPANDER comes with a few impressive kit list including LED Headlamps, Crystal blocks LED position lamp and L-illumination LED Tail Lights. The new XPANDER also comes with 16 inch dual-tone alloy wheels. Customers may also explore more adventurous places with the XPANDER’s high ground clearance of 205mm.

Interior
Moving inside, the XPANDER gets best-in-class spacious cabin with overall height of 1,730mm and overall length of 4,475mm. The new XPANDER is with a 2,775mm wheelbase and 1,750mm width offering more legroom for all its passengers.

The XPANDER is the only car in its class with fold-flat second and third rows seats providing full luggage space and car-like boot that makes it easier to load larger or longer items. The XPANDER is also fitted with under-seat multi-purpose storage, cargo floor box with lid, third row side pocket and cup holder, centre console box with sliding lid, multiple storage compartments and glove box with double compartment to store all the items needed for a perfect weekend getaway.

Furthermore, the XPANDER also comes with four roof-mounted air vents for better air distribution towards each passenger promising faster cooling effect for hot days. For entertainment, the XPANDER comes with 9-Inch Audio System with Apple Carplay and Android Auto Ready.

Safety
Safety features includes dual SRS airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-Force Distributor (EBD), Active Stability Control (ASC), Brake Assist System (BA) and Hill Start Assist (HSA).

Last but not least, the XPANDER also comes with 4.2-inch high contrast meter cluster with important information display such as engine coolant temperature gauge, and warning display for cruise control or low battery in the car key.

MMM’s Authorised Dealer Package
To further enhance the value of the vehicle, a MMM authorized dealer package is introduced. The MMM authorized dealer package will include features such as All Round Monitor (ARM), Driving Video Recorder (DVR) and Leather Seats.

ARM uses multiple cameras around the vehicle to create a 360 Degrees bird’s eye view to aid parking and manoeuvring.

For added peace-of-mind driving, the DVR captures every moment or incident in front of the vehicle while on the move.

Last but not least, the stylish black leather seats further complements the vehicle design and ride comfort for the driver and passengers.

All these accessories are tested and verified by MMM to be in compliance with Malaysia’s local regulation requirement.

New Mitsubishi XPANDER Seven-Seater Crossover Officially Rolled Out from the Assembly Line and Starts Mass Production

Kuala Lumpur, 28 October 2020 – MITSUBISHI MOTORS MALAYSIA (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, announced that the new Mitsubishi XPANDER has officially rolled out from its assembly line and begun its mass production in Pekan, Pahang. Malaysia is the third country to locally-assembled the XPANDER following Indonesia and Vietnam.

The new Mitsubishi XPANDER is produced at HICOM Automotive Manufacturers Sdn Bhd in Pekan, Pahang. The production line is designed to roll out 6,000 units of XPANDER annually.

Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia has invested in setting up the all-new Body Shop, Painting Jigs and Tester Line at the plant in Pekan. The new XPANDER undergo a Pre-Treatment and Electro Deposition by a 360-degree somersault in an ED-coat tank at one of the most advanced paint shops in ASEAN.

A layer of primer is then painted by a robotic system and then dried heated in an oven bay. Thereafter, the XPANDER is painted again with multiple coats to a fine finish.

MITSUBISHI MOTORS CORPORATION (MMC) certified auditors are stationed at the assembly plant to oversee the same high standards and consistent quality of Mitsubishi Motors production worldwide.

Commenting on the new XPANDER, Chief Executive Officer of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia, Tomoyuki Shinnishi said, “The XPANDER is a significant model for MMM and we are confident that it will be a favourite among many Malaysians. The move to localise the XPANDER is to meet the demands of our Malaysian customers. We want to offer a more price competitive model with better specifications providing customers more convenience and comfort.”

He added, “We ensure all our customers that each unit of the XPANDER undergoes extensive quality control tests, before it is shipped out. Every inch is checked by human-eyes and cutting-edge technology.”

Since its launch in Indonesia, the XPANDER including the XPANDER CROSS, has been well received for its futuristic styling, comfort, and high driving performance. By end September 2020, the total sales volume for the series has reached approximately 270,000 units.

The launch of the new XPANDER in Malaysia is targeted for November 2020.

Kuala Lumpur, 22 October 2020 – MITSUBISHI MOTORS MALAYSIA (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, revealed full product specifications of the new Mitsubishi XPANDER today.

The seven-seater crossover is now open for bookings at all Mitsubishi Motors authorized showrooms nationwide, ahead of its official launch in Malaysia which is targeted for November 2020.
