Kuala Lumpur, 26 September 2017 – Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicle in Malaysia, today announced the appointment of Leona Chin, Malaysia Motorsports Athlete as its brand ambassador.

“We are happy to welcome Leona as MMM’s brand ambassador. Leona has been involved in many car racing events worldwide and recently gained victory in the Clio Cup China Series as one of the two female drivers during the first race weekend back in March 2016 in Zhuhai, China. Leona’s involvement in motorsports proves to be a great platform in which we found something in common with ourselves – producing Mitsubishi rally inspired vehicles that will in return benefit our customers in terms of handling, performance and not forgetting safety as well.”, said Chief Executive Officer of MMM, Tomoyuki Shinnishi.

“Leona has also joined Mitsubishi Motors for many extreme events which proved the Triton with MIVEC engine a success time and time again. Conquering terrains such as the Borneo Safari, Sarawak’s first 4×4 Jamboree was not an easy task, but we’ve decided to push both man and machine to the limits.”, he added.

Besides the Triton, MMM will also be putting strong highlight on Mitsubishi Motors SUVs the Outlander and ASX Compact SUV. Both are locally-assembled in Malaysia and boasts outstanding premium and safety features.

Chin, the gutsy lass with a sweet smile and bubbly personality became more involved in Mitsubishi Motors after her famous “Sales Girl Drifts Customers in Pickup Truck” prank video which has more than 7.3 million views on YouTube.

As Mitsubishi Motors’ brand ambassador, Chin will appear in several campaigns including all types of media, roadshows and social media. She is set to appear at the recently introduced locally-assembled Outlander preview roadshow at Mid Valley Megamall, from 27 September to 1 October from 10.00am – 10.00pm.

Locally-assembled Mitsubishi Outlander 2.0L Makes Debut

Kuala Lumpur, 13 September 2017 – Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia, introduced the locally-assembled Mitsubishi Outlander SUV 2.0L today.

The line-off ceremony was officiated by Mr. Tomoyuki Shinnishi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MMM and Mr. Tan Keng Meng, CEO of Warisan Tan Chong Motor Holdings. Also present was Chief Product Specialist from Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC), Japan, Mr. Yoji Otani.

The Mitsubishi Outlander is contract assembled by Tan Chong Motors Assemblies (TCMA) at its plant in Segambut, Kuala Lumpur.

The long-standing TCMA plant has been assembling the Mitsubishi ASX for Mitsubishi Motors since 2014. The ASX compact SUV was the first Mitsubishi vehicle to be assembled in Malaysia. MMC personnel from Japan are stationed at the local production line to oversee quality control and processes.

“Today is a very proud day for Mitsubishi in Malaysia, as we get to celebrate our second locally-assembled vehicle here. The locally-assembled ASX has been successful for us, and we hope that the Outlander will be well-received by the market too,” Shinnishi said.

“The Outlander SUV boasts outstanding safety and space for the family, and the move to locally assemble a new 2.0L variant makes the SUV even more affordable for Malaysians. We assure that there’s no difference in quality between locally-assembled and imported units,” he added.

The Outlander was launched in Malaysia in April 2016 as a completely built up (CBU) import from Japan. The new locally-assembled Outlander 2.0L 4WD variant will be sold alongside The CBU 2.4L 4WD, which widens the SUV’s appeal.

4WD System and Performance

The new Outlander 2.0L 4WD is powered by a proven 2.0-litre engine with 145 PS and 196 Nm of torque. The DOHC MIVEC engine is paired with INVECS-III CVT transmission.

With many years of winning experience in the gruelling Dakar Rally under its belt, Mitsubishi is a specialist in rugged 4WD vehicles. By improving traction on slippery surfaces and stability, 4WD plays a role in active safety – it is especially valuable on SUVs with tall bodies and a high centre of gravity.

The Outlander comes with an intelligent 4WD system as standard across the range. Unlike on-demand 4WD systems in rival SUVs, the Multi-Select 4WD system in the Outlander has three selectable modes – 4WD Eco, 4WD Auto and 4WD Lock – to suit all conditions and terrain.

Safety Features

Safety is the Outlander’s strongest suit, befitting its role as a family vehicle. Together with 4WD, seven airbags, ABS and EBD, Brake Assist, Active Stability & Traction Control (ASTC), Hill Start Assist (HSA) and ISOFIX child seat mounts are standard. The SUV also boasts a strong Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body construction.

Other helpful safety features include Rest Reminder, which reminds the driver to take a break when fatigue steps in.

The Outlander 2.0L also comes with a reverse camera with guide lines as standard.

Premium Features

The Outlander has a stylish and bold design, thanks to Mitsubishi’s signature Dynamic Shield face and LED daytime running lights, plus striking 18-inch alloy wheels that are standard.

Within the stylish body is a spacious seven-seater cabin with ample room for the entire family. The Outlander boasts best-in-class cargo volume of 1,608 litres with the second and third-row seats folded.

Standard equipment includes automatic headlamps and wipers, and keyless entry with push start button. A 7-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay functionality allows for seamless connection between Apple (iPhone/iPod) and car. The screen comes with Air Gesture Control for added convenience.

The Outlander 2.0L gets front parking sensors to complement the rear units. There’s also a digital video recorder (dashcam) and security/solar film for all windows.

With best-in-class safety features, premium and stylish design, and a family-pleasing combination of space and versatility, the locally-assembled Mitsubishi Outlander with improved value is now open for booking at all Mitsubishi showrooms nationwide.

Three colours are available: Red Metallic, Solar White and Ruby Black. Ruby Black is a new colour for the Mitsubishi Outlander and is available exclusively for the Malaysian market.

The introductory price for the locally-assembled Mitsubishi Outlander 2.0L 4WD is RM 139,988.00 until year end. The Outlander comes with MMM’s standard factory warranty of five years and unlimited mileage.

Prices are quoted on-the-road without insurance in Peninsular Malaysia.

Mitsubishi Triton VGT AT GL Introduced

Kuala Lumpur, 6 September 2017 – Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia, introduced a new Mitsubishi Triton VGT AT GL variant today. The Triton VGT AT GL is based on the Triton VGT AT variant and is made to cater for those who seek for an affordable pick-up truck for daily usage.

The new variant comes with 2-Din Audio, 4WD selector and automatic climate control. Aesthetic wise, the Triton VGT AT GL comes with front dark chrome grill, side-step and 16′ inch alloy wheels.

Priced at RM 103,800.00 the Triton’s status as an all-rounder is sealed with a warranty that’s unparalleled in the segment. It’s the only pick-up* truck boasting a 200,000 km or 5 years warranty for ultimate peace of mind (*Up to 2.4L category).

As before, all Triton models are imported as a Completely Built-Up (CBU) vehicle from Mitsubishi Motors’ global production hub in Thailand.

The Triton is powered by the latest 2.4-litre MIVEC turbodiesel engine with Variable Valve Timing technology. Coupled with Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT), it produces a strong 181 PS of power and 430 Nm of torque.

This is achieved through MIVEC’s finer control of the engine valves for improved performance, while lightweight aluminum alloy blocks keeps weight to a minimum. Field Fix Campaign for Mitsubishi Pajero Exceed Airbag Inflator

Kuala Lumpur, 8 August 2017 – Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, has requested owners of 128 units of Mitsubishi Pajero Exceed manufactured from 2010-2014 for the replacement of the driver airbag inflators.

Some of the driver airbags may release metal fragments when deployed causing injuries to the driver. This exercise is part of the Takata airbag recall campaign worldwide.

“Safety is our utmost priority thus MMM is taking this initiative to assure customer’s safety and regrets the inconvenience caused to the affected customers. This effort is to enable the replacement of the driver airbag inflator with improved inflators.”, said Tomoyuki Shinnishi, Chief Executive Officer of MMM.

Separately, MMM will also be conducting two other field fixes. The first campaign involves tailgate gas spring for ASX Compact SUV and Pajero Sport manufactured from 2010-2015 and 2010-2016 respectively. This exercise is necessary to replace the defective gas spring due to insufficient anti-corrosion coating.

The other campaign is for the ASX Compact SUV Wiper Motor, whereby possible water intrusion may result in corrosion to the internal parts of the wiper motor and cause it to stop operating.

MMM will issue notification letters to all affected Mitsubishi owners and the full cost of the replacement will be borne by the company.

MMM kindly request all affected customers to make an appointment at any of the Mitsubishi Motors authorized service centres for the replacement of the above.

Mitsubishi Motors Ranked Number One in J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2016

In the J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2016 Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) study, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia was ranked first over 16 automakers with 815 points over 1000 points in an overall sales satisfaction among mass market brands in the SSI study.

The company scored an almost perfect score across the categories satisfaction, sales initiation, dealership, deal, salesperson, delivery timing and process.

Now in its 14th year, the study examines sales satisfaction in the mass market segment across six factors that contribute to overall customer satisfaction with the new-vehicle purchase experience (in order of importance): salesperson (19%); dealer facility (19%); delivery timing (17%); deal (16%); delivery process (16%); and sales initiation (13%). Sales satisfaction is calculated on a 1,000-point scale.

Mitsubishi Motors Supports Wildlife Conservation In Sarawak

Kuching, 15 March 2017 – Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi vehicles in Malaysia, supported wildlife conservation efforts in Sarawak by contributing a Mitsubishi Triton 4×4 pick-up truck to the SARAWAK FORESTRY Corporation (SARAWAK FORESTRY) recently. The Triton will be used for wildlife rescue and related conservation works at Matang Wildlife Centre (MWC).

The vehicle was handed over by MMM’s Chief Executive Officer, Tomoyuki Shinnishi to the representative of SARAWAK FORESTRY’s, Chief Executive Officer, Wong Ting Chung in a ceremony held at MWC here this morning. The effort is part of Mitsubishi Motors Corporate Social Responsibility programme; aiming to utilize the company’s innovative strength for the greater improvement of a sustainable future.

Shinnishi in his address at the event said, “Mitsubishi Motors is proud to assist and support SARAWAK FORESTRY, an organisation that devotes its’ time for a good cause. We acknowledge their efforts in rescuing wildlife of various species which are brought in to Matang Wildlife Centre for rehabilitation purposes.”

He added, “The Triton pick-up truck had passed many endurance tests and has been for various gruelling off-road events. We hope that it will assist SARAWAK FORESTRY well in many of their rescue adventures to come, no matter the terrain.”

Wong also spoke at the event. Wong, in his welcoming address said, “Due to increasing public awareness on wildlife conservation and protection, Matang and Semenggoh wildlife centres are facing growing demands for additional capacities in rescue, rehabilitation and other operational aspects such as transportation. Therefore, contributions such as this Triton pick-up truck by MMM is timely, practical and very much appreciated for our works here at Matang Wildlife Centre.”

Wong at the event also announced the birth of a male baby orangutan at MWC on Sunday morning. The new born was named Triton following an adoption announced by Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia after the handing over of the Mitsubishi Triton pick-up truck.

Concluding his speech, Wong expressed SARAWAK FORESTRY’s hope that more organisations would render support to the corporation’s conservation works in time to come.

Matang Wildlife Centre cares for endangered mammals, birds and reptiles species but it is the Centre’s orangutan rehabilitation programme that has caught the attention of people the world over. SARAWAK FORESTRY’s rehabilitation works were initially concentrated only at Semenggoh Wildlife Centre at Semenggoh Nature Reserve. However, starting 1998, new orangutan inmates have been admitted to Matang Wildlife Centre in view of the increasing orangutan population being rehabilitated at Semenggoh Wildlife Centre.

The Outlander SUV recently won the Best SUV/Crossover Mid-Size 4×4 7-Seater award at the inaugural CarSifu Editor’s Choice Awards 2016.

Available only in 4WD, the Complete Built-Up (CBU) vehicle from Japan is powered by a 2.4-litre Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control (MIVEC) engine boasting a maximum output of 167 PS at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 222Nm at 4,100 rpm.

The Outlander SUV is offered in three colours- Red Metallic, White Pearl and Grey Metallic.

Safety Features

Like other Mitsubishi models, high safety performance is a top priority. Standard safety features offered in the Outlander SUV include 7-Airbags, Active Stability and Traction Control (ASTC), Hill-Start Assist (HSA), Anti-lock braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), and ISOFIX to ensure maximum safety for infants.

Mitsubishi Motors Ranked Number One in J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2016

In the recent J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2016 Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) study, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia was ranked first over 16 automakers with 815 points over 1000 points in an overall sales satisfaction among mass market brands in the SSI study.
