Kuala Lumpur, 31 May 2023 – MITSUBISHI MOTORS MALAYSIA (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, officially launched Max Certified today, a used car program offering customers a more seamless experience to shop for Mitsubishi pre-used cars.

Under the Max Certified program, customers can browse through various Mitsubishi pre-owned models available at all Mitsubishi Motors dealers nationwide and trade in their existing Mitsubishi model for a brand-new Mitsubishi.

Customers who wish to buy a pre-owned Mitsubishi under the Max Certified program can rest assured that every used car undergoes a comprehensive 150-point inspection by a professionally-trained Mitsubishi specialist. This is to ensure Mitsubishi Motors’ quality assurance and peace of mind for all owners.

That’s not all, every car under this program also comes with a 12-month warranty that covers the repair and/or replacement of the engine, transmission, steering, and electrical components due to mechanical breakdowns. Customers who buy a vehicle under Max Certified will also receive a RM500 service e-voucher redeemable at authorized MMM service centres during periodic maintenance.

All pre-owned Mitsubishi sold under this program are aged seven years and below with mileage less than 180,000 km covered at the time of trade-in. These cars are also equipped with genuine parts from MMM authorized service centres, free from major accidents and flood damage, and come with a complete service record from Mitsubishi Motors authorized service centre.

“In addition to strengthening the Mitsubishi brand within the used car sector and building the residual values of Mitsubishi vehicles, Max Certified aims to improve customer retention and repurchase another Mitsubishi model. Through the Max Certified program, we want to deliver a more holistic approach. While MMM continues to work towards introducing new models for Malaysians, we also hope to offer those who are interested in purchasing a used Mitsubishi car a more accessible and trustworthy platform,” said Shinya Ikeda, Chief Executive Officer of MMM.

The Triton Rally Car is built based on mass-production Triton, with only a few modifications on body weight and safety equipment for the competition

The sales achievement is credited to the Mitsubishi XPANDER combining stylishness, practicality, and superior handling which had its best sales performance year with 14,316 units sold from January to December 2022, an increase of 93.5% compared to 2021 and contributed 59.6% to the company’s overall total sales. “MMM is delighted to achieve a record-high sales performance in 2022, and we thank each and every Mitsubishi customer across the nation for their unwavering support. One of our significant achievements of the year was that we celebrated the Triton pick-up truck reaching a 100,000-unit sales milestone in Malaysia since MMM’s inception in 2005.

“On the product front, we also welcomed great news at the end of last year as Team Mitsubishi RALLIART’s Triton was the overall winner despite being a first-time entrant at the Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR) in November. After a three-year absence, the AXCR got under way on the 21st in Buriram in the northeastern part of Thailand, where the first SS of the rally and a ceremonial start were held. Leg 1 on the 22nd to Leg 3 on the 24th included SS located in the area around Buriram. Leg 4 on the 25th saw the rally cross the border into Cambodia after finishing the SS around Buriram, while Leg 5 on the 26th ended at the spectacular ceremonial goal near Angkor Wat, the famed tourist attraction in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The first half of the rally in Thailand consisted mainly of high-speed stages on rough, dry unpaved roads, while the second half was more challenging with large, deep puddles scattered on muddy roads caused by heavy rain, and a tougher course compared to the previous five stages awaited the participants in Cambodia.

Chayapon Yotha, driving the car #105 Triton, finished fifth in SS1 on the first day. On the second day, he set the fastest time in SS2, the longest SS of this year’s AXCR with a 203 km course, and climbed to the top overall position. After that, the powerful driving performance and nimble handling of the Triton helped him to finish SS3 in seventh, SS4 in sixth, SS5 in fifth, and SS6 in fifth, and he maintained the lead he had established in SS2 to take the overall win.

Rifat Sungkar in car #118 finished SS1 in sixth place following his teammate. He was aiming for higher positions, but after suffering a flat tire and subsequent damages to the chassis in SS2, he dropped to eighth position. The team’s repair work allowed him to continue the rally the next day, and he finished fourth in SS3, fifth in SS4, fourth in SS5, and seventh in SS6, completing the rally in fifth overall while proving the toughness of the Triton.

Sakchai Hantrakul in car #119 tested positive for Covid-19 after SS1 and unfortunately had to retire the rally.

Hiroshi Masuoka, team director of Team Mitsubishi Ralliart, commented:
“For this year’s AXCR, we built on the high reliability and durability of the Triton by tuning the engine and chassis, and entered the rally with specifications relatively close to the production car. Even so, the two Triton rally cars delivered powerful driving, and I am very proud of our high finish. The superb performance came down to the drivers, who were able to extract the Triton’s performance and show us some great drives, the engineers who worked every day to fine-tune the vehicles perfectly, all the staff who provided support, and the know-how that Mitsubishi Motors has accumulated over the years. Key to it all was the tremendous support from our sponsors and the passionate messages of support we received from fans around the world. We would like to feed the knowledge we gained through our participation in the AXCR back into the development of production vehicles, and build Mitsubishi vehicles that are even tougher, more powerful, and more reliable.”

Kuala Lumpur, 9 November 2022 – MITSUBISHI MOTORS MALAYSIA (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia, recently contributed three Triton 4×4 pick-up trucks to the Malaysia Red Crescent Society (MRCS), a non-profit organization (NGO) in Malaysia.

MMM contributed three Triton 4x4 pick-up trucks to the Malaysia Red Crescent Society (MRCS).

The Triton 4×4 pick-up truck will be used to reach out and provide logistical support such as food, medical supplies, and humanitarian help to the needy during flood disasters.

MRCS anticipates the upcoming Northeast monsoon in Malaysia to forecast heavy rainfall from November 2022 until March 2023.  In addition, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) also alerted MRCS that although monsoon floods occur annually in identified risk areas, other parts of Malaysia could also face flash floods, particularly in cities with rapid urbanisation.

Locally, we are humbled to partner with MRCS, an NGO which devotes its time to humanitarian services. We are confident that the Triton will assist MRCS to tackle the harshest of road conditions caused by heavy downpours such as extremely slippery roads, uneven terrains, and inundated roads all of which the Triton is capable of,” said Shinya Ikeda, CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia.

MRCS has been involved in disaster response for more than six decades. Its role is based on the guidelines under the National Security Council as the lead agency for disaster management and national security in Malaysia. Services offered by the MRCS include early assistance in Disaster Preparedness, Disaster Relief during and after a tragedy, as well as Disaster Recovery.
